Parenting by Connection

A 6-week program to master the 5 essential Hand in Hand parenting tools

For families looking for additional support and practice with foundational parenting tools, this educational group uses the concepts from Hand-in-Hand Parenting to help parents understand the root cause of behavior, identify and meet needs, and master skills in effective limit-setting, using play therapeutically, and providing high-quality emotional support. The main goal of the group is to provide parents with the care they need in order to maximize the support they are able to offer their children.

The group meets for six (6) weekly 90-minute sessions. Each week covers a powerful parenting tool that participants can implement right away. Group members also share listening time each week so everyone has the opportunity to off-load emotional work and receive support from each other. This enables consistent practice and helps parents boost their capacity for empathy and regulation.

This virtual group helps families:

Better Understand Children

Respond More Supportively

Enhance Relationships

All behavior is communication and off-track behavior often stems from feelings of disconnection. Participants learn why children express emotions frequently and intensely, how and why they seek connection through behavior, and what adults can do to meet needs while developing their own regulation skills.

By consistently receiving co-regulation, individuals hone their capacity to provide high-quality listening support. Participants learn about Stay Listening and Listening Partnerships which empower them to experience relational safety and shared regulation.

Once participants understand the child's behavior and know how it feels to receive support, they can enhance how they set limits and provide leadership (ensuring they can support the feelings that limits tend to invite). Participants learn to implement Special Time and utilize Play Listening to boost skills and connection.
